Chennai Schools have been closed in districts such as Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram due to current Cyclone Mandous. The announcement was made yesterday that schools in these districts will be closed on December 13, 2022. The city will witness more rains till December 15.
Chennai Schools have been asked to be closed today, December 13, 2022 due to the heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Mandous. As per the PTI report, Chennai and several other parts of Tamil Nadu witnessed rainfall yesterday, December 12, 2022 with the MD also issuing a forecast of more rainfall till December 15, 2022.
Schools have been shut for today
It is because of the circulation of the Cyclone Mandous and low-pressure area likely to form in the Bay of Bengal around December 13. Schools in areas including in Tiruvallur and Uthukottai Taluks apart from the Kancheepuram district declared a holiday today, December 13, 2022.
“Due to an increase in rain during the day and continuous rain forecast, all schools in Tiruvallur district have been instructed to close by 3 pm today. Also, holiday has been declared for all the schools in the district for tomorrow.
Apart from schools being directed to shut, the fishermen have also been warned not to venture into southeast and adjoining east central Arabian Sea and along and off Kerala-Karnataka Coast.
As per IMD updates, light to moderate rainfall at most of the places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Tamil Nadu state today and over Kerala and Mahe and decrease in rainfall activity over the region thereafter. In other news, Karnataka Districts schools were also declared holiday and in Haryana, the residents have been declared a public holiday due to Gram Panchayat elections.
