Pantnagar. August 4, 2026 : The second session of the five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Artificial Intelligence for Educators: From Fundamental Concepts to Practical Applications’, organized by the Faculty Development Centre (FDC) of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. Pantnagar, was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap. The programme is being conducted from August 3 to 7, 2026.
In his inaugural address Dr. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education, research, and extension activities. He stated that AI has emerged as a powerful tool for bringing qualitative transformation to the education system. He encouraged faculty members to adopt AI-based technologies and tools responsibly to enhance the quality of teaching, improve research productivity, and promote academic innovation. The inaugural session was attended by Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and faculty members from various colleges of the University. Dr J.P. Purwar is Co-ordinator of the program Faculty Development Centre.
The primary objective of the five-day programme is to provide faculty members with practical knowledge and hands-on training in the use of AI-based tools, enabling them to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence into teaching, learning material development, research, data management, and academic administration. The programme includes expert lectures, live demonstrations, and practical training sessions to equip participants with the skills required for the effective integration of AI in higher education.
